I had a power surge occur at my home in Charlotte. Among other things, the surge burned out my existing BlueMax garage door motor. Being a home built in the late ’70s, the garage is equipped with a heavy wood door, which made manually opening/closing the door a real chore. When I called Green’s Overhead Doors, the owners wife, Paulette answered. She was very polite and scheduled her technician, Chris, to come out the very next day to assess the situation. As I suspected, Chris confirmed the motor and control board were toast as a result of the surge. My previous garage door motor was a screw-drive unit that was really loud. Chris suggested I consider a belt-driven unit; which would be much quieter. I was initially concerned given the weight of the wooden door; however, Chris assured me that it wouldn’t be an issue given that the belts are steel lined, and the fact that most of the door weight is actually carried by the main springs. We went with the Liftmaster WLED model; which I’m very happy with. Chris did a terrific job with the install, including running all the wiring as neatly as possible, fully servicing the door mechanism, lubing the rollers and replacing a worn section of weatherstripping on bottom of the door. I’m curious by nature and mechanically inquisitive so I peppered Chris with a ton of questions which he was happy to answer. Their price was fair, their service excellent, and their responsiveness terrific. These are good and honest folks; who I would happily recommend to others. I have no affiliation with them; I’m just a happy customer.
